Description

Our Topic

This event will include dinner, a talk, and a time for conversation on the topic of what (if any) intersection or relation there may be between mathematics and faith.

We were very honored to have Dr. Francis Su as our conversation starter for this event! He’ll set the stage for our conversation with some big ideas and keen insights.

About Dr. SU

Dr. Francis Su received his PhD from Harvard University and is the Benediktsson-Karwa Professor of Mathematics at Harvey Mudd and former president of the Mathematical Association of America. His research area is combinatorics, and he is particularly known for his work on fair division.

Format

This event will include dinner (FREE for Caltech students, faculty, and staff), a talk, and a time for table dialog.

Organized by

Science And Faith Examined is made possible by grants from the STEAM Project and the Moore-Hufstedler Fund of Caltech.

Our goal is to start conversations that explore the important questions at the intersection of science, philosophy, ethics, and religion at Caltech and beyond.

We do this by creating a venue for conversation that includes a meal, a talk given by an expert speaker (typically a scientist or philosopher), and a time of discussion in groups of 8-10.
